Interviewed: THE LORD and NEO PATRA, the sexy guitarists of THE PLEASURES
Interview conducted by LoriAnn
Q: Who came up with the name of the band?
Lord: That was Dancette’s idea. It was a very fast finding process. It was like “We need a glamorous and proper name, something like The Pleasures and stuff!” “Alright!” Process done.
Q: How long has “The Pleasures” been together?
Lord: Dancette and me have been together for a life time. The Pleasures as a band were founded in summer 2004, the first live show took place in summer 2005. So we’re still fresh and young and hungry.
Q: If you can describe each band member in one word, what would it be?
Lord: When Dancette is the “heart”, Sensai the “hands”, Neo the “fists” and the Son the “mind” then I am probably…
Neo: …the “penis”!
Q: What is the concept behind the video “Yes its us”?
Lord: The idea was to give one a little inside view of what we call being “pleasuresque”. It’s like peeping through the glory key hole of the Pleasures’ castle… Even if it looks like it was shot in small appartments…In some way it was part of the finding process, cause it was shot in the early beginning. But this still very chaotic touch in it makes it very honest.
Q: Are the lyrics a group collaboration or the work of one individual in the band?
Neo: It depends, most of the lyrics are from The Lord or Dancette, but if i have a good idea The Lord and i will work something out together.
Q: Any plans of a US tour in the near future?
Neo: Yes, we definitely want to rock the american crowd!!!
Lord: Maybe near future sounds a bit early. We try to be there before NEXT summer. Even for billionaires like The Pleasures it’s a money thing… Things like that are not easy without a label. But we definately have to play there and we will! And I wanna visit George W. to tell him that he’s a fucking wanker, with both hands!
Q: If you could tour any country in the world, where would you tour and why?
Neo: Japan, cause i think the people there would be a blast, even more crazy than we are and because i always wanted to go there one time.
Lord: They seem to have a good taste in music there. Or at least they like the way we look… I mean it makes me very happy when someone tells me that we make good songs, cause most of the time it seems like that it’s just about looking glamorous. But yes, we do play instruments and write songs as well
Q: If you were to set up your own Rock Festival, which bands would you have perform as your supporting acts? Why?
Lord: Rammstein, because they are the best to “warm up” the crowd. Malice In Wonderland, because I seriously fell in love with their music and Shakira because I wanna do her.
Neo: I would ask korn, cause they were a huge inspiration for me, but I don’t think they should support us. It should be the other way round.
Q: Each band member has a unique image and unique stage name, who’s idea was it to go in this direction?
Lord: That’s just what we are and the way we are! It comes all from the heart! We’re not businessmen that tried to find the best way to convince teenagers to find us sexy or interesting. We’re just a passionate bunch of guys with a love for glitter and a life less ordinairy!
Q: How would you describe your music to those who have never heard of your band or your bands music?
Lord: It already sounds like a cheap phrase, because I have said it so often, but it gets the heart of it: “We look like we sound and the other way round!” And in the end it’s Glamrock, but maybe more rough, colorful and a little more aggressive than the Glam from the 70’s.
