Q: On your website, many of the band members keep a journal. Do you think this helps your fans get an idea of how things are going in your life? What do you believe is the main purpose of these journal entries?
Lord: The main purpose is that we want to give the fans what they want. The contact to the fans is maybe one of the most important things to us. We go and meet the crowd after EACH show, and we spent as much time with them as possible. This is a serious relationship in which both sides have to give and not just take. For all the ones that can’t meet us we try to give them some of our personal thoughts and fantasies through that journal, what we call the “Soap Opera”.
Q: Since the release of your LP, when performing do you find more of your fans know the lyrics by heart now? What are your thoughts on this?
Lord: The longer we exist the more fans start to sing along. It’s pretty amazing that even at the first international shows in Denmark and the UK fans turned out to know some lyrics better than myself… So when I forget my singing parts at “Are You Bored Of Getting Older?”, as always, I just give Dancette a sign to hold the microphone to the audience. Problem solved.
Q: When doing publicity photos, do you guys want to portray a certain image?
Lord: Not a certain image. We try to portray us the way we honestly feel about being a Mr. Pleasure. I think that’s probably the best and most honest way to create something what one would call “image”. As said before, we don’t think about us as a product. It’s about rock ‘n’ roll, fun and artistic freedom. What you get in the end is a product anyway, but at least a trustworthy one.
Q: What are your feelings about MySpace, do you think it has improved your fanbase across the world?
Lord: In the beginning I thought it was just another crappy chat platform. But in the meantime it really turned out to be “a place for friends”. And it did not just improve our worldwide fanbase, it is responsible for the major part of the CD orders we get and finally for our great joint venture with Big Boy, Malice In Wonderland, Elegantly Wasted and others. This would not have been possible without MySpace. Thanks Tom!
Q: Do you have a clothing designer or makeup artist that assists each of you with your image?
Lord: We do a lot by ourselves, but the longer we exist the more we begin to work with makeup artists and fashion designers. We are sponsored by a bunch of glam shops and our genius hair- and make up artist Dennis Reven from Bad Meets Evil in Hamburg.
Q: How was your performances with Big Boy and Malice in Wonderland? What can you say about these two bands?
Neo: They were great! All these guys are so nice! It’s like a big family when we’re together, everyone is willing to share with the other!
Lord: It was a blast! For us and for the fans! It was so successful in any kind of way, that I can say that this have not been the end of the story… We all became very close friends and there are some weird stories to tell. Imagine a bunch of half naked glam rockers in my appartment after a heavy rain on a Hamburg beach party. Well, maybe I will write down some of that stories in a more detailed way later.
Q: What bands have influenced your music?
Lord: I can just speak for myself. There’s no special bands that have influences on the songs I write. It’s actually a bit of all I am listening to. But I am very much inspired by guitar players like John5, Gary Moore or Richard Z. Kruspe Bernstein.
Q: For those of you with tattoos, is there significant reason why you got the tattoos that you possess?
Lord: I had my first tattoo when I was 18. The significant reason for each tattoo I have let done was just that I wanted it, nothing more. For me there’s no metaphysical or spiritual aspect in being tattoed. You just want THAT symbol or whatever on your body, that’s all. Plain and simple.
Q: Out of all the songs on your LP, which one is your favorite and why?
Neo: I like “Girls” the most, it’s got this crazy and fast drive to it, also I like the lyrics.
Lord: “Honeymoon In Venice” is my fave. The reason is that I love Venice, it’s one of my favorite places on the whole world. I wrote the song in the plane back from Venice. It still has that special Venice-feeling in it, which I hope the listeners do experience as well. It’s like a snapshot of still being high on a Venice-Trip. That makes it feel so real, so special to me!
Q: If you can collaborate with any artist (living or dead) who would it be and why?
Lord: I’d love to perform “What a Wonderful World” together with Louis Armstrong. This song always moves me to tears. I’d like to be part of it, just for one time, no matter how unimportant my part in the band would be. I just need a triangle and some hankies.
