Interview conducted via email by LoriAnn. All questions were answered by MiK Crone. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to answer these questions our readers/fans at Eurobands.us.
Can you tell us a little about your new album “Play to Ghosts,” what was the process you took to select the songs on your album?
Around a year ago we started writing in rehearsals and came up the majority of ideas for the album. The hardest part for us as a band is to take the different influences each member has and merge them together, that is however how we get our highbred style. Matt (drummer) and Ad (singer ) like more experimental music like Fantomas. I am a straight up rock n roll guy who likes Motley Crue but also a lot of industrial music like NIN and Ministry and Trevor Leather (Bass) likes old school punk so as you could probably guess song writing time is a little stressful. I fly the flag of rock n roll though and I inject it into the songs! The songs we choose and have chosen have to reflect all four members personality and I think they do.
Which track on your current album would you say is the hardest track you have written so far in your musical career?
I wouldn’t really say any song is technically hard to write, I do find it hard to record it though. We have always recorded our own material so we could concentrate on spending our money on other essential things such as advertising and PR. To get the finished product to sound as it does in our heads has always been a task, what mics do we use? what software do we use? What amps so on?? Then the mixing, are the drums too loud? Is their enough reverb?. With Play to Ghosts I recorded and mixed it with Matt (Drummer) and then to add a finishing touch we sent it to Sacrimento California where it was mastered by monster lab (Deftones, Die so fluid). The whole recording process was hard.
How is the current promotional tour going for supporting this album?
It’s early to say at present because the CD came out on the 23rd of June but we purposely based the campaign to start in mid july. We did however play a great gig in London and got to hang out with some of our friends like Grog from Die so fluid. Our video has just been added to MTV2 and we are doing plenty of interviews for magazines. Its really sad that the career of a band is controlled by the level of PR you get and PR costs money. The record labels don’t make money anymore so the level of press drops, meaning the level of sales drop. The internet is helping. So thanks for interviewing us. YEY!!!!!
Any plans on releasing this album internationally?
The cd is out internationally. If you cant find it in your local store ask at the counter to order it in. you could order it online from amazon or play.com or most internet big stores, also our label has an online store at coprorecords.co.uk. It’s also on Itunes too. Just remember to put the dots in k.o.kaine
