The Glam has recently released their highly anticipated EP album “Join the Spectres” after a long wait. They have been fortunate enough to tour with fellow German Glam Rock band “Cinema Bizarre” as the opening act for their tour. Through this tour, they have gained the respect and adoration of many fans throughout Germany. The Glam hails from Hamburg, Germany but definitely has a European/British sound to their music. Their idols might come from abroad, from another era, but The Glam, who have their own laws, are masters of transformation. The fact that The Glam relate to Gender Benders like T. Rex or David Bowie, who in the seventies shaped a new genre almost on their own, goes without saying. It gets congenial, though, when the band lets the beat of The Cure’s “Lullaby” shine through the accords in the song “Walking Ghost” with Frederic singing: “You are walking like a ghost / Don’ t touch the ground / Tonight you’ll come around / Have you existed, have you ever really loved / Not me and not enough…”. A song like “Walking Ghost” proves how competently The Glam already dominates their terrain. The extremely talented live performance line-up of The Glam includes the following: Frederic – Vocals & Guitar ; Phil – Bass ; and Julien – Drums

I know you are sitting there wondering what type of music The Glam had created their debut EP album. You may possibly think that they are your typical glam rock but they are so far from that particular definition of music. The Glam has a unique sound that reminds you of the music that “The Cure” and “David Bowie” had created in the past. They definitely have a great edge and their lyrics are eloquently written. The tracks and lyrics on this album definitely show the creativeness of “The Glam” and their great attention to detail. With song titles such as “This Week At War”, and “Join the Spectres” you are exposed to The Glam’s knack for mixing elements of different genres of music and creating their own unique sound. This album is exactly what many fans look for when it comes to excellent Rock music that draws its inspiration from everyday life experiences and from past music legends. There has never been a moment while listening to this EP that I have become unusually bored listening to each track over and over. Each song is uniquely different but also carries that unique sound that you begin to notice the more you listen to their music.

Would I recommend this cd to others? Yes! Why? The Glam is definitely an extremely talented band who has the potential to reach phenomenal success internationally. This album is reminiscent of British Rock faves that we have all come to adore. So check them out on MySpace and find out how you can obtain your very own copy of this EP. I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.
